Marike Rommeswinkel was born in 1984 and specialized in biotechnology, a field of biology with high potential from both a scientific and an economic perspective where intellectual property is rapidly gaining importance. In 2007, Marike Rommeswinkel completed her Bachelor degree in the field of Applied Microbiology at the University of Münster, with the main focus of her work being placed on bacterial degradation and synthesis of biopolymers relevant for the plastics industry, in particular isoprenoid-based polymers.

Upon completion of her Bachelor studies, Marike Rommeswinkel commenced her Master studies of biosciences, in the course of which she analyzed the transcriptional regulation of a plant-based gene family, the corresponding genetic products of which are involved in the formation of biomimetically usable motor proteins. She successfully completed her studies in early 2010 with a Master degree in Biology.

Marike Rommeswinkel joined the firm of Gesthuysen, von Rohr & Eggert as a patent attorney trainee. In 2012, she changed employment to join the newly founded firm of VON ROHR Patent Attorneys.

In 2014, Marike Rommeswinkel passed the European Qualifying Examination. After obtaining the admission as German patent attorney in 2019, Marike Rommeswinkel became a partner of the firm of VON ROHR Patent Attorneys, where she consults and represents national and international clients in all aspects of intellectual property.
