Jörg Michael Weidener

M.Sc. in Engineering

"The innovative capacity of "old industries" is the key to success for export-oriented locations. New technologies and processes based on generations of engineering experience are in global demand. The enforcement of intellectual property rights is therefore a strategic must for companies today."

This statement by Jörg Michael Weidener, who was born in 1962, is based on his profound knowledge of mining engineering and technologies as well as of the current demand on the key user markets. Having achieved his diploma in mining engineering and technologies from Technical University of Clausthal-Zellerfeld in 1988, he gained both theoretical and practical experience in South Africa, a mining nation, before finding his way to intellectual property.

Having commenced his career in intellectual property in a patent law firm seated in Frankfurt, he was admitted as a patent attorney in 1991 and continued to work for an international firm with offices in Munich, Herne and Alicante. He was made partner of the nationally and internationally successful firm of Gesthuysen, von Rohr & Eggert as early as 1993 and left the firm in 2012 in order to become one of the founding partners of the firm of VON ROHR Patent Attorneys.

With more than 20 years of professional experience as a patent attorney, Jörg Michael Weidener represents renowned national and international clients in all matters of intellectual property and is specialized in the preparation and execution of litigations. In addition, he has educated patent attorney trainees for many years and has been a member of the examination committee for patent attorney trainees for several years.
